Specialising for over thirty years in the cleaning and preventative maintenance associated with underground and aboveground downstream fuel storage systems, Fuel Doctors has earned a reputation for attention to detail and genuine customer commitment whilst providing competitively priced services and products that only a privately-owned company can.
Unique in the industry Fuel Doctors are competent in both chemical and mechanical engineering, crafting their skills from day to day hands on observation and application.
Initially emergency power generation and oxidised fuel kept the company occupied until entering the service station and truck stop industry in 1992, with a corporate goal of maintaining quality assurance for dispensed product. The company has proactively assisted fuel suppliers and fuel consumers to this end for the past thirty years.
With a sharpened corporate philosophy and specific industry knowledge, the foundation business known as Liquid Engineering Queensland became Fuel Doctors in June 1994.
Fuel Doctors’ primary goal was to value add our engineering and tank cleaning business by developing a unique tool of trade, a chemical (Fuel Doctor) compatible with all fuels that was passive yet effective and that could reach the inaccessible recesses within a tank to assist in the removal and minimisation of moisture, microbial growths and gums, complementing the chemical was the company’s expertise in high volume, low micron mobile filtration, enabling contaminated fuel to be de-contaminated and processed in-situ, negating the need to remove and dispose offsite.
The microbial growths found in diesel and oil were also found in petrol with the removal of lead. Lead had prevented the airborne spores (attracted to all fuels) from germinating, and by the early 1990s they were rife throughout fuel storage systems – providing Fuel Doctors with an open university degree in their chosen craft.
Quality assurance during the fuel industries supply chain’s infancy was dictated by large glass, volume incremented globes atop ornate pumps, which decreased in size progressively until eventually becoming obsolete in the late 1980s.
A substantial amount of fluid has passed under the bridge since those pioneering days – fuel injection and pump systems (especially diesel) have advanced more in the past 10 years than in the previous 90; tolerances are finite with extreme pump pressures.
Technology has moved so fast that manufacturers with their extended worldwide dealer networks cannot train their repair technicians fast enough to keep up with the advancing injection parameters and emission targets.
With the astronomical cost of repair or removal and replacement of fuel injection components, plus the high cost of cleaning tanks, quality assurance has never been more pertinent. Consequently, this site may be of assistance in preventing and minimising those costs for you.
Fuel Doctors services have evolved to include:
– Removal and replacement of underground and aboveground storage systems
– Integrity testing of tanks and lines
– Environmental compliance audits
– Flammable and combustible safety management procedures
All this whilst still maintaining our core business of quality assurance sampling, tank and line de-contaminating and the never-ending boat tank cleaning.
A joint branding distribution agreement with Castrol in 2000 included a stringent and successful product testing regime instigated by Castrol’s new owners BP.
2002 saw SuperCheap Auto roll out the new 275 ml automotive bottle, allowing all motorists access to an industrial strength product developed by a committed industry leader, in a proprietary designed enviro-user friendly multi-use dispenser.
This site will keep you abreast of the issues pertaining to contaminated fuel – how to avoid it and most importantly how to maximise power and component life whilst minimising fuel consumption and emissions. Please feel free to email your thoughts, comments and experiences.
