We have had recent communication regarding Fuel Doctor and the new Euro-VI standards that we’d like to share with the wider community and Fuel Doctor’s all customers, please take a read through:
G’Day Scott
In response to your concerns as outlined : With the introduction of the new Euro VI emission standards, some of our transport company clients have been advised by Mercedes and Freightliner not to use additional fuel additives ( Fuel Doctor ) in their bulk diesel tanks at depots as it may affect performance of cause damage to the fuel system.
1: It may affect performance Fuel Doctor is a proprietary fuel additive formulated in-house to assist in the cleaning of all metal surfaces contained within a fuel system from storage tank to injection, a combination of detergents and surfactants disperse tank bottom sludge into the host fuel at sub-micron level. Fuel Doctors proprietary upper cylinder lubricity enhancer ensures that the nano particles of water, microbial material and flash rust that are now safely suspended in the body of the fuel pass through the pump and injection system harmlessly to exhaust.
Once the system is clean a maintenance treat rate in aboveground storage tanks can be as little as 1:4000 ltrs (250 Pm) and will cascade its effects throughout the plant and equipment using the fuel.
When it comes to performance social media forums have thousands of real-world stories of how Fuel Doctor has produced remarkable results in relation to decreasing injector rattle, over fuelling of injectors, nominal power increases and a nominal decrease in fuel consumption whilst killing and eradicating microbial and moisture contamination, oil analysis conducted by major fleets has resulted in extended oil drain intervals, Fuel Doctor is a detergent based fuel additive, Tribologists agree that the higher detergency you can obtain in diesel will result in a cleaner burn, a cleaner burn results in less oil born contaminants entering the sump via blow-by.
For the past ten years American fuel companies have been retailing diesel with a higher detergency rating for a cleaner burn internally whilst reducing emissions, these higher detergency diesels are generically referred to as Top–Tier-Diesel by using Fuel Doctor, you are creating Top-Tier-Diesel and will reap all the benefits related by associated companies in the Top-Tier-Diesel site.

The effect on performance by using Fuel Doctor will be substantially increased.
2: cause damage to the fuel system. As you can deduce from the above Fuel Doctor has been formulated and utilised for the past thirty years specifically to repair and minimise fuel system damage by un-seen and unknown contamination that only becomes apparent when plant and equipment fail or are impeded due to fuel contamination, Fuel Doctor can only enhance fuel system cleanliness resulting in higher efficiency with decreased down time and emissions.
Fuel Doctors major distributor since 2000 is Castrol which is owned by BP neither company would be associated with a company for the past twenty-five years whose only product could potentially bring their brands into disrepute.
Mercedes-Benz – Freightliner and all OEMs are wary of Fuel Additives.
The supply and distribution of fuels and oils are regulated under Australian Standards the supply and distribution of fuel additives is not.
Contrary to popular belief OEM manufacturers of Trucks Buses Cars Earthmoving equipment and Agricultural equipment, do not warrant their products against Contaminated Fuel, consequently, you cannot void OEM warranty by using Fuel Doctor in your fuel because fuel does not fall within the scope of the warrantee.
For the past thirty-five years I have analyzed and compared, existing and every new fuel additive introduced to the Australian marketplace against my own product Fuel Doctor.
This extensive research has revealed that 95% of fuel additives are Hydrocarbon derivatives and predominately formulated around Kerosene, the endemic fungal material (Cladosporium-Resinai) within the Tropical North Queensland’s fuel supply chain is feeding from Hydrocarbons,
Consequently, treating fuel with Hydrocarbon based products as a preventative, or to control contaminated fuel will only exasperate an already dire situation, leading to increased contamination resulting in premature fuel pump and injector failure whilst compromising DPF & SCR systems.
Some additives contain substances that create positives during combustion however they can increase sludge formation and increase emissions, others advise not to use their products more than three times between oil changes.
Taking the above into consideration, it is not unusual for an OEM engine manufacturer to simply say no external additives are recommended.
However, in some instances and in some parts of the world a fuel additive can enhance stored fuel quality and storage life whilst having zero detrimental effect to engine operation or emissions.
Fuel Doctor is manufactured by Fuel Doctors Australia as a fuel tank / fuel system cleaner whilst also acting as a fuel stabilizer to enhance storage life and quality of fuel in the tropics.
Established in Brisbane in 1992 as a tank cleaning preventative maintenance engineering company, Fuel Doctor was formulated in 1994 as a tool of trade to assist in the cleaning of inaccessible internals of underground fuel tanks in Petrol Stations and Truck Stops.
Cleaning sixty-thousand-litre underground tanks in retail outlets can necessitate the use of hundreds of litres of Fuel Doctor with hundreds of litres left in the tank at completion, that remaining fuel and Fuel Doctor is then on-sold to customers, in Fuel Doctor’s thirty-five years of operation, we have never received a single complaint that Fuel Doctor had caused or inadvertently caused a secondary issue in fuel due to its use.
Negotiations with Castrol in 1994 resulted in extensive field trials throughout Australia from 1996 to 2000 culminating in only positive outcomes wherever it was used which led to a Joint Branding Distribution Agreement that has now lasted blemish free for twenty-five years.
The active ingredients in Fuel Doctor are Carbon, Hydrogen and Oxygen. The combustion by- products are carbon dioxide and water.
There are no nitrogenous chemicals, potential ash forming chemicals, or biocides in Fuel Doctor. It functions by mobilising organic contaminants allowing them to be consumed in the combustion process within the cylinders and passed to exhaust.
Brisbane Bus Lines with an extensive fleet of dissimilar engines has treated all incoming diesel to their two 35.000-liter underground fuel storage tanks religiously with Fuel Doctor for the past thirty years, the fleet has travelled more than sixty million kilometres with zero fuel pump, injector, DPF or SCR failures.
